The Civil Services Club

The club is basically a common platform for group study for civil services aspirants. Its members include persons who have earlier appeared in UPSC prelims or mains examinations or State PSC exams as well as those who intend to appear in near future.

Meetings: The club meets every Sunday for two hours and special meetings can be held as and when the need arises.

Members: Currently the club has around 10-12 members and inclusion of more members is strictly subject to the sincerity of the proposed members. The idea is not to create a purposeless crowd.

Approach: The approach of the club is General Studies oriented which is common for all the members having different optional subjects. A strict vigilance over current happenings is an important feature of the activities.

Methodology: The meeting begins with an objective type test of current affairs of the past week. After the test, the discussion takes place. The subjects include history, polity, geography, economy etc all general studies subjects. What subject and what portion to be discussed is decided in prior in the previous meeting. Each portion thereof is divided into subportions that are assigned to every member of the club, who in turn prepares his or her part completely so as to describe and elucidate it in the next meeting. Henceforth cross-questioning and notes-sharing also takes place. The key here is knowledge sharing which benefits each and every one. It all happens in a cheerful and jovial atmosphere.

Though the club doesn’t claim comprehensive and intensive preparation yet its significance lies in its capacity of bringing together purpose driven individuals and of providing motivational and mutually beneficial environment.
